My NZ athlete

           Hey guys. since the Commonwealth Games are have started in the Gold Coast our class have all chosen an athlete to write a report on . I chose Hamish Bond because I find it amazing how he has changed from rowing to cycling. I find this amazing because rowing doesn't help in cycling at all. Rowing is all in the arms and Cycling is all in the legs! Hope you enjoy my poster and learn so interesting facts about him.

Wet and Wild Greymouth

The Wet, Wild Greymouth home to 9,690 hearty residents has been brutally battered by the National press and Stuff news. Spreading cheap and lousy rumors that our exceptional Grey district is deteriorating.  But underneath our dark and stormy clouds comes a beautiful town fighting back!

Who would say such a thing? Greymouth may be losing some buildings, but we have so many breathtaking views and we are overflowing with enticing environment. The grand Grey District is surrounded by fabulous walks, runs and bike trails. Although Greymouth doesn’t bode any natural wonders of the world, I believe the Point Elizabeth trail is a natural wonder of the West Coast. The Point Elizabeth has great views of Cobden beach and the terrific Tasman sea and also has a 11km stroll all the way out to Rapahoe and back.

Another great aspect of Greymouth is our magnificent facilities. These facilities include our Rec Centre, aquatic centre, and local, delicious cafes and restaurants. The Rec Centre is a fabulous place to play basketball, netball and going to the gym. Since the courts are indoors you will never need to worry about the rainy and stormy weather again! This building has been a big hit in the sporting business for Greymouth since August 2016. Next to the Rec Centre there is the amazing Aquatic Centre which also a facility that is very popular. The Aquatic Centre involves fun for all ages. It has Hydroslides, A sauna, A spa and so much more making this fabulous superstructure great for the holidays and all of the 4 seasons.  

In addition to our wonderful constructions is our local cafes and restaurants. Greymouth owns some of the grey districts finest cafes. The Bonzai, DP1, Gap Cafe and so much more. All of them concocting fabulous food. Golden, flaky pastry looking like the bark on a tree and thousands of sweet confectioneries. Almost all of our cafes and restaurants are only based in Greymouth. Making our town one of a kind. Greymouth isn’t booming with business but that is also one of the things that Greymouth great. Unlike the big cities in NZ if you walk past one of our locals and smile you will get a smile back or a wave. Greymouth is a humble town and that's why we should enjoy it.

Greymouth may not be like or look like the big cities in New Zealand but unless you have really got to know us and our town you can never judge us. Afterall the saying goes “ Don’t judge a book by its cover.” So the only fall of Greymouth is the people who wrote these rude comments about us. Don’t let some random strangers tell us why we shouldn’t love Greymouth. We love Greymouth for what it is not how it looks.

Reading challenge term 1 read a blog/read an article about our environment

Hey guys! The second task I chose this week is read a blog and read an article about our environment. Earlier on this week I read a article in a national geographic. I looked up national geographic on the internet and I found heaps of environmental articles on their blog. Here is the one I chose. The one I  chose was called " How ugly fruits and vegetable can help solve world hunger." This is about how the ugly fruits and vegetables that are disposed of can actually almost feed over 2 billion people! Here is the link to the article I read National Geographic

Read a podcast 2018 term 1 reading challenge

Hi guys this my task that I chose and it is read a podcast. Unfortunately I could not find a podcast that I was able to listen to without downloading the podcast on Itunes. I have a chromebook so downloading that would be close to impossible also It cost money. So I am going encourage you all to listen to a podcast that I have already posted earlier on last year. Hello and welcome back to my blog today in my latest post for my reading challenge is, read a short story and read a book in a quiet outdoor space. For my short story I read Marmaduke duck, Marmaduke duck is a great poem and is also acceptable for young readers. For my quiet outdoor space I found a spot in my backyard and sat down. I enjoyed this spot because it was peaceful and you could listen to the birds chirping. Here is a photo of my quiet outdoor space with my short story.
